I’m originally from Chicago and graduated from college with a recreation degree (yes, I am a leisure professional!) After graduation, I traveled around the US working seasonal jobs such as at a surf camp in San Diego, and as a ski valet in Colorado. Deciding I was more beach than mountains, I landed in Key West, Florida where I spent 21 years. I became a kayak and paddle board guide leading tours through the backcountry waters through the mangroves. I’ve taught thousands of people about the local sea life like manatees, conchs and sea cucumbers, and how to hold a paddle and navigate through the surf.
Being a guide was a fun physical job but I always loved lifting weights the most. I had the goal to be lean, jacked and shredded but no idea how to get there. I tried everything from over-restricting calories, eating mainly vegetables and working out twice a day, but nothing worked. I didn’t know it at the time, but my weekend warrior binge drinking and eating lifestyle wasn’t helping me either.
It wasn’t until I decided I loved fitness more than partying and decided to quit drinking alcohol almost 9 years ago that my entire life completely changed. I became committed to my goal and a new, healthier lifestyle. I got my personal training certification and began working with a few clients while I still guided kayak and paddle board tours. Between adopting a completely different lifestyle and spending the time I used to spend partying on pursuing my health and fitness goals, I started to see results, and so did my few clients. Suddenly I was getting referred clients left and right and my little side hustle got so busy, I stopped leading tours and devoted my time to training clients in the gym full time.
Since then, I have learned how to fuel my body and eat for my goals. I have worked and helped many, many clients in person. During the pandemic, I started working with clients online. I am a strong believer in ongoing education and have continued to deepen my knowledge and further my personal training career. I just can’t get enough of this stuff! I obtained a nutrition certification and then completed a biomechanics training which has really propelled my strength training programming to the next level.
I love helping people transform not only their bodies but entire lifestyle.
